I've created a graphic log in Coreview and would like to save it as a PDF. Exporting the data as a meta-file as the program says in the help section does not seem to work. Adobe Acrobat X Standard does not want to recognize the meta-file. How do I save my log sheet (CVW) on Coreview as a PDF?

Unfortunately the program doesn't allow you to save the file as PDF. Also, it allows you to save it only as CVW but this format can't be converted easily to PDF. I recommend you export it as Metafile using the provided option from the File menu:
Click to view alt="enter image description here" />
This function will save the file as WMF that can easily be converted using online tools that you can find using Google search engine. I tried the utility from the firs link and it works without issues:
This is a CVW template that came with the program. I converted it to PDF using the mentioned tool.
Is there any way to create a new rock pattern (symbol) besides those that are already in default?

No, there isn't. This software does not currently support modifying or adding a new rock pattern, you can only work with those that come pre-installed. What you can do is to export the current database you have (by clicking on File > Export Template) and edit it from there using another software that can view and edit Canvas External Tool File (.CVT), such as Canvas, it's really a good tool for making technical illustrations, it will work with both vector objects and raster images, and it is designed for easy using.
There are also more alternatives to the software you are currently using, such as Interactive Petrophysics that offers some advanced features and interpretation modules like: Monte Carlo simulation, that enables the user to understand and quantify the errors associated with a complete interpretation workflow or Rock Physics interpretation workflow.
